Why a few broken panels are worth fixing now
A cracked or missing panel leaves an opening in the wall. Rain gets behind the siding there every time it storms, and wind gets under the loose edges next to it and works more panels free. What starts as one panel on the lawn can be a whole row after the next storm.
Fixed early, it is a few panels. Left open, the water behind them reaches the sheathing.

Signs your siding needs a repair
- A few panels are cracked, holed or broken.
- Panels blew off or came unhooked in a storm.
- A panel has warped or melted near a grill.
- Panels rattle in the wind or bow out from the wall.
- You can see house wrap or bare wall where a panel used to be.
- The damage is in one or two spots, and the rest of the siding still flexes when you press it.

If panels are cracked or warped across whole walls, patching a few will not keep the water out. We tell you that and show you the photos. What siding replacement involves
How a siding repair works
A siding repair with us runs in six steps. You hear how close the color match will be before any panel comes off, and your written estimate lists how long the work will take.
We inspect it, free
We look at the damaged panels and the siding around them, check whether the rest still flexes or has gone brittle, and photograph what we find.
We talk about the match
Old vinyl fades, so even the same color from the same maker can look different. We tell you before we start how close the match will be.
You get a written estimate
Which panels come off and the price, on paper. If the damage is across whole walls, we tell you that a repair will not hold.
We take out the damaged panels
The broken panels are unhooked from the rows above and below and taken off, without cracking the sound panels around them.
We check behind them
With the panels off, we look at the house wrap and the wall. If we find soft sheathing or rot, we stop and show you before we replace it.
We fit the new panels
The new panels lock into the rows above and below. Then we go over the repair with you.

Check us out before we touch a panel

It depends on how many panels are damaged, how high up they are, how close a match we can get, and what we find behind them. A couple of panels by the back door and a row on a second story wall are different jobs. You get a written price after we have looked.
Sometimes exactly, often close. Vinyl fades in the sun, so even the same color from the same maker can look different next to a panel that has been up for years. We tell you before we start how close the match will be.
One option is to take panels from a side of the house few people see, use them for the repair, and put the new panels on that hidden side instead. We go over that with you at the inspection, before any panel comes off.
When the damage is limited to a few panels, the rest of the siding still flexes instead of cracking, and a slight color difference is fine or the damage is on a side few people see. If panels are cracked or warped across whole walls, we tell you a repair will not hold.
Cold makes vinyl stiff. A ball, a ladder or a branch in January can crack a panel that would have flexed in July. Vinyl that has sat in the sun for years gets brittle too, which is one of the things we check when we look at a repair.
Sometimes. Insurers generally cover sudden damage from wind, and generally do not cover siding that simply wore out. We photograph what we find so you have something to hand your adjuster. We do not decide the claim. If only a few panels are damaged, the repair may cost less than your deductible anyway.
We repair siding in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties. If your town is in one of those, we can come out.
